Mix & Match Feature*Spring 2012
Think you always have to buy full sets of linens? Think again.
The most creative beds mix patterns for a fresh, one-of-a-kind look.
Tijuca- An exotic floral print, inspired by the sublime Cattleya orchid native to the tropical forests in Brazil.
(310tc, Printed, Satin Finish)
Ipanema- Features horizontal stripes in bold tones of Deep Ink Purple and Spring Green, printed on a Crisp White background, paying tribute to the beaches of Bossa Nova.
(200tc, Printed, Luxury Percale)

Tijuca: Duvet Cover, Standard Sham, European Shams
Ipanema: Flat Sheet, Fitted Sheet, Standard Sham, Boudoir Sham
In this case, we have chosen to spread out the Duvet Cover on the bed. However, you can always change the look to suit the season by rolling the Duvet Cover at the foot of the bed, and spreading out a Quilted Blanket Cover on the bed. As both the Ipanema and Tijuca Shams have alternate designs on the reverse, you have many options for your finished look.
You could also add the Mon Ile Green Tapestry Pillows or the Tijuca Silk Embroidered Throw (shown below) to add texture and a focal point to the ensemble.

Mixing and matching bed linens lets you completely change the look of a room
without spending a fortune! Sometimes one or two pieces are all it takes...
-
You can't go wrong if you match the Flat Sheet to the Standard Shams, the Duvet Cover to the European Shams, and the Fitted Sheet to the Boudoir Shams.
-
Mix Quilted Blanket Covers and Shams to add texture and dimension.
-
Use a Decorative Pillow at the top of the bed or an Accent Throw at the foot of the bed to add that perfect splash of color to emphasize other parts of your room's decor such as a painting, a wall color, a rug, or draperies.
-
Combine florals with stripes or plaids, or bold patterns with delicate prints or solids to let them play off of one another.
As the patterns offered at the YD Online Outlet are all discontinued and in limited availability, it can be very hard to find any one pattern that has enough pieces remaining to complete an ensemble on it's own.
Learning how to mix and match to create an ensemble that doesn't look like it was "pieced together" is a valuable skill that will allow you to bargain shop while creating your own unique designer look!
*If an ensemble is missing Standard or King sized Shams (or Pillowcases)-our Custom Sewing Department can make them for you! Contact me for more details at tonya.gibson@yvesdelorme.com or toll free at 1-800-322-3911, ext 360.
Both of the featured patterns are now available for purchase at the YD Online Outlet.
Try your hand at combining different patterns and colors and you may never want a matched set again!
